Why Sunday School Is Important?

Have you ever thought about how vitally important teaching and instruction is to our daily lives? This matter takes on a whole new perspective when we consider that a lack of proper instruction can be "life threatening," both physically and spiritually.

What if you had never been told that certain animals could be very dangerous? What if you had never been told certain plants and chemicals could kill you if ingested? What if you had never been told that fire was extremely important in life, but could also be extremely dangerous? What if no one bothered to tell you that all water is not drinkable? And most importantly, "What if you had never received any loving instruction about God and Jesus Christ."

Sadly, there are literally tens of thousands of children who will never hear the name of Jesus used, except as a swear word Even sadder is the fact that many adults and children, involved with local churches, never gain a solid foundational understanding about God. Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit. These same people have no "assurance of salvation," and only a hope of heaven. Many of them don't know if a book of the Bible is in the Old or New Testament. They cannot name 3 of the 12 apostles, nor do they have any Scripture verse committed to memory.

Why is this? I believe it is primarily due to a lack of lifting up the importance of Sunday School Classes. Why would we expect our children, or ourselves, to be grounded in Biblical understanding, if we do not participate in learning opportunities like Sunday School? How is it that we are able to deceive ourselves into believing that an occasional, or even an every Sunday, diet of sermons can ground us in Biblical understanding.

Too many Christians are like a basketball team that expects to win, without constantly practicing. We, my friends, are in the midst of a spiritual battle for the souls of mankind We cannot expect to be successful, unless we are grounded in God's Word. We will not grow up to be Christians, unless we are grounded in God's Word In fact, we "may not" even be Christians, unless we are grounded in God's Word Consider getting involved in "HIGHER EDUCATION" by attending Sunday School soon! God is depending on you.
